Waste (Scotland) Regulations
Waste (Scotland) Regulations will be zero municipal waste to landfill be the end of 2020.
In support of this requirement, OIS was engaged by a client to assess Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF) as a potential for its residual kerb side collected waste. OIS formed part of the project team to review the technical ability and commercial viability of technologies to process waste for use as RDF. We were then involved in the installation and commissioning of plant to process the residual waste for RDF, the plant now produces and exports 30,000tpa of RDF and is hoping to increase production.
In another project, OIS has been engaged by a local authority to review its residual waste arising from its recycling centres, waste transfer centres and landfill sites. Over 2018, we will be performing waste data analysis across these sites to identify the waste types and volumes. On conclusion of the study, OIS will review options for the reuse, treatment, recycling of energy valve for waste to energy. OIS are also reporting to all of the Scottish Local Authorities on this project.
